My students' awareness of Mexican food is tragically limited, mainly consisting of experience with nachos, which is also what they call barren tortilla chips right out of the bag. Picante, pinto beans, jalapenos and queso fresco are all alien concepts that have to be framed with unfair analogies in order to make my students understand them. So it was selfish to challenge andrew as I did, to briefly explain the broad strokes of Mexican cuisine and their cultural significance. He did a bang up job to say the least. The three main sections of the blog are the exact three places I intended for him to film, but I never explicitly told him.
