The Gwangju Massacre

I'm very disappointed with this blog. On Youtube the description reads as follows: "This is a video blog about the Gwangju Massacre, and Gwangju's political situation. I am aware that as an explanation of the events and their consequences it is a very incomplete document and I intend to follow it with a short epilogue."

In addition, I wanted to get interviews, and a lot more coverage of the anniversary events. Those of my students who witnessed the events all refused to be interviewed though, and I only attended sporadic anniversary events because the city was bustling with activity and I didn't know when to be where.

According to the 2007 Korean movie May 18 (Hwaryeohan hyuga), directed by Kim Ji-hun, "the incident resulted in 207 deaths, 2,392 wounded, and 987 missing people, but the exact number of casualties has been subject to considerable dispute. Members of the military government were indicted with rebellion but the culprit of ordering open fire against the citizens has yet to be identified".

On an unrelated note, while I was walking around the city, I saw this newly married couple on their way to their honeymoon.
